Mandaue City, CEBU- One month after the Holy Week, Nature’s Spring Foundation, Inc. in coordination with PSWRI reaches out to 54 Children in HOME Children’s Center in Mandaue City. Specifically, the outreach activity was special as it targeted Children at Risk (CAR) and Children in conflict with the Law (CICL).
Hygiene kits and shirts were distributed to the children of the center. Each hygiene kit contained personal hygiene items that include shampoo, bath soap, toothpaste, toothbrush and hand towel. Food packs were also donated to augment the food supplies of the center. Food items include a sack of rice, boxes of canned goods and noodles.
According to the head and social worker of the center, Ms, Maricel Yu, “The center was a rehabilitation house for minor offenders and child abuse victims aged 18 years old and below.”
The center aims to develop these children through values formation, sports and vocational skills. Through sponsorships and external assistance, these children also have the opportunity to finish their studies up until college.
After the outreach, Ms. Yu expressed her gratitude to the foundation and Nature’s Spring volunteers and hoped for more collaboration of projects in the future.
Currently, the center has 23 staff and houses 54 children of which 7 are females and 47 are males.
